Terms of Use

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to anyone who visits or uses this website and its services, which are operated by SkillLift Labs (1001577116 ONTARIO INC.), a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada. By creating an account, running the simulator, or purchasing a course, you agree to these terms.

2. What SkillLift is today (beta)

SkillLift Labs is an early-stage, founding-beta learning platform for semiconductor and RTL design skills. Today you can:

• Use the free browser-based Verilog simulator (the "playground") — no account required.
• Create a free account and complete the free learning path (Course Orientation and Module 1), earning a "White Belt" milestone.
• Read the terms of the Interactive Course for Verilog RTL Foundations. Paid enrollment is not open yet — you cannot be charged for it today. These terms describe what applies once it opens.

Modules 4–7 and the capstone lessons are written and tested but not yet released — they are not "still being built", and they are not live either until they are released and verified in production.

Capstone review and learner-controlled RTL Proof publication are not both production-live. RTL Proof cannot be earned until the complete review and publication path is released and verified.

We label each module with its real state and we do not publish forecast dates. During founding beta we publish a date only once we can honour it. We do not claim a feature is finished when it is not, and we do not call content live merely because it exists in our codebase. Our status page is the single source of truth for what is live, free, paid, and pending; if any page disagrees with it, trust the status page and tell us.

3. Accounts

You can create an account with an email and password, with Google sign-in, or with a one-time magic link sent to your email (the magic link also serves as password recovery). You are responsible for keeping access to your email and account secure. Provide accurate information, keep it current, and do not share your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to purchase a paid course.

4. Paid courses and payment

Paid courses are sold as one-time purchases (not subscriptions) in US dollars. The paid tier of our founding course, Verilog RTL Foundations, is the Interactive Course. Founding beta price: $79 USD one time. Founding learners keep complete Interactive Course access at this price. The current price and what it includes are always shown on the course page before you pay.

The price does not change because a module ships. It changes only on an exact date we publish in advance, with at least 14 days' notice. Everyone who buys at the founding price keeps complete Interactive Course access at that price — we never charge the difference later.

• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; Stripe handles card data under its own terms.
• Learners with a verified .edu email may receive a 30% discount on paid tiers, applied at checkout.
• A paid purchase grants you access to the modules included in that tier now, plus modules added to that tier as they are released, at no extra charge. During founding beta we publish each module's real state rather than a forecast date, and we do not call content live until it is released and checked in production.

5. Refunds

Paid courses come with a 14-day no-questions refund. If you request a refund within 14 days of purchase, we will refund your payment in full and your access to the paid content will end. To request a refund, email hello@skilllift.io from the address on your account.

6. Acceptable use of the simulator

The playground and lesson exercises run code you write in a sandboxed environment. This is a shared resource, so you agree not to:

• attempt to break out of the sandbox, access other users' data, or reach systems or networks you are not authorized to reach;
• deliberately exhaust resources (for example, infinite loops, fork bombs, or oversized output) to degrade the service for others;
• probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the site or its infrastructure; or
• submit unlawful content or use the service for any unlawful purpose.

We apply quotas and automated limits to protect the service and may suspend access that threatens its stability or other users.

7. Your submissions

When you write code, run simulations, or submit exercise work, we store that content so the platform can run it, check it, save your progress, and — where you choose to — build a work-sample you can share. You keep ownership of the original code and work you create. You grant SkillLift Labs a limited licence to store, process, and display that content as needed to operate the service and provide it back to you. You will not publish another learner's work as your own or share proof content in a way that misrepresents authorship.

8. Intellectual property

All platform content — including the SkillLift Labs name, logo, wordmark, course materials, lessons, and written copy — is the property of SkillLift Labs and is protected by copyright and trademark law. Your access does not transfer ownership. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or republish course materials without written permission.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" during our founding beta. We make no warranties about uninterrupted availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose, and course descriptions reflect what we are building and may change. Completing a course, earning a belt, or producing a work-sample does not guarantee employment, certification recognition, or any specific career outcome.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, SkillLift Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the course in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario.

12. Changes

We may update these terms as SkillLift Labs evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
